What is a QR Code?

A QR code gives customers instant access to the information behind your product. One quick scan can show where it came from, what it contains, and the documents that support it.

  • Connect packaging to live product information
  • Share compliance, origin and sustainability details
  • Update information without replacing the code
  • Make key product data easy to access

What is a GTIN?

A GTIN, or Global Trade Item Number, is the unique number used to identify a product in the global marketplace. It sits behind a barcode and tells retailers, marketplaces and supply chains exactly which product they are dealing with.

Each product and variation usually needs its own GTIN, including different sizes, colours or pack formats. Using the right GTIN helps keep product information consistent as it moves between systems, markets and sales channels.

Compliance Basics

Product compliance is about making sure your product meets the rules of the market it is being sold in. That can include information about materials, origin, certifications, traceability and how the product should be identified.

The exact requirements vary between countries and platforms, but the direction is clear: businesses are being asked to provide more accurate, accessible product data. Frameworks such as GS1, EU Digital Product Passports and Amazon Transparency are all part of that shift.

Standards we support

OwlQR is built on open standards used by the world's largest retailers, supply chains, and regulators.
